Venice Film Festival unveils main jury
4 directors, 1 actress join Golden Lion-winning Ang LeeROME -- The Venice Film Festival on Wednesday announced the makeup of its main competition jury, four film directors and an actress from four different countries to the jury to be headed by two-time Golden Lion-winning director Ang Lee.
Organizers said that French actress Sandrine Bonnaire would be joined by U.S. director Joe Dante, Italian counterpart Liliana Cavani, Indian director and screenwriter Anurag Kashyap, and Luciano Ligabue, the Italian writer and director.
Together, the jury will decide on eight main prizes including the Golden Lion for best gilm, the Coppa Volpi for best actor and actress, the Silver Lion for best director, and he Special Jury Prize.
With "Brokeback Mountain" in 2005 and "Se, Jie" (Lust, Caution) two years later, Jury president Lee has won two of the last four Golden Lion awards.
The 66th edition of the Venice Film Festival will take place this year Sept. 2-12.
