Venice packs 'Lunch' for Critics Week

Empty

"Lunch," a drama from Norway's Eva Sorhaug, will open the Venice Film Festival's 23rd edition of Critics Week, headlining a lineup that features nine films from eight countries.

Only host Italy is represented twice, with Pippo Mezzapesa's closing film "Pinuccio Lovero Dreams of a Mid-Summer Death" and Gianni Di Gregorio's "Lunch on the August Vacation."

"Vacation" marks the directoral debut for Di Gregorio, co-writer on Cannes critics favorite "Gomorrah."

The 65th edition of the Venice Film Festival is set for Aug. 27-Sept. 6.

The full Critics Week lineup is at THR.com/festivals. (partialdiff)
