Ventana Sur: Panama Launches MEETS Co-Production Market
The new Latin America co-production initiative will match the Panama Film Festival and give a $25,000 award.
BUENOS AIRES – The Panama Film Commission announced the creation of MEETS, a co-production market for Latin American fiction films that will also deliver a $25,000 award. The announcement was made yesterday at the Ventana Sur film market.
MEETS will be held in April 7-9, during the recently created Panama International Film Festival, which runs April 3-9.
"I’m certain that MEETS will provide the Latin American film industry and our filmmakers the proper tools to finance, produce, sale, and promote their projects," said MEETS director Arianne Bendetti.
"MEETS will contribute to Panama’s positioning as an ideal spot for film development and production," she continued. "Panama is a country that is blessed with a strategic geographic location and has a growing film industry backed by a new Film Law and an International Film Festival, stand as prove of its good health and advancing thrust."
The new co-production market adds to an ongoing effort to strengthen Panama’s appeal for the regional film industry, which also includes a gala ceremony in Panama City to host the new Platino Awards organized by EGEDA and FIPCA and announced this week also at Ventana Sur.
