VES prepares report on effects field

Includes changes brought about by digital technology

The Visual Effects Society has prepared a white paper with the goals of offering a broad view of the visual effects field, including the changes that have been prompted by digital technology; and hopefully serving as a first step toward "entering a vigorous dialogue with other crafts and guilds about current conditions and the future direction of the industry."

The report, "The State of Visual Effects in the Entertainment Industry," concludes that "the key to better entertainment product and better results for the bottom line lies in understanding how to manage better communication and workflow, along with a manageable schedule for the staff and a realistic budget."

VES executive director Eric Roth said the information in the report was compiled through research and interviews by board members and additional VES staff and participants.
