Veteran Manager Larry A. Thompson to Be Knighted in Rome
William Shatner's personal talent rep will be feted at the Roma Basilica of San Martino ai Monti on Saturday.
Producer, author, lawyer, and veteran talent manager Larry A. Thompson, who worked on Lifetime's Lindsay Lohan-starring Elizabeth Taylor biopic Liz & Dick and produced a number of Comedy Central Roasts as well as representing clients such as William Shatner and David Hasselhoff, will be honored with a knighthood in Rome on Saturday.
“As an American of Italian heritage, I am so pleased and honored to confirm that I am to be knighted in Rome," Thompson said in a statement. "I am shattered with humility and gratitude."
Thompson has been awarded a number of previous accolades throughout his career, including "Showman of the Year" in 1998 by the U.S. Television Fan Association, the Seymour Heller award for lifetime achievement in talent management by the Talent Managers Association and an induction into the Personal Managers Hall of Fame in 2016, the latter two being the highest honor a talent manager can receive.
Thompson will be sponsored by Grand Prior Lorenzo de' Medici as he is knighted into the prestigious Ordine dei Cavalieri di San Martino del Monte delle beatitudini (the Order of Saint Martin of Mount of the Beatitudes) as a “Patron of the Arts and Protector of the Most Needy” at the Roma Basilica of San Martino ai Monti.
The ceremony will be followed by a mass of investiture and a gala lunch to honor the newly knighted members.
