VFX House Rising Sun Pictures Opens U.S. Office, Appoints Marc Sadeghi EVP
Australian effects company is working on 'Green Lantern 2' and 'Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, Part 2.'
SYDNEY -- Adelaide-based visual effects company Rising Sun Pictures is opening a permanent U.S. office and has appointed Marc Sadeghi as executive vice president and head of business development and marketing.
The company is eyeing a shot at becoming the lead visual effects house on big-budget studio films and developing its own original slate of films, the company said Tuesday.
A former lead executive at The Orphanage, Sadeghi has worked as an executive producer for visual effects on projects as Iron Man, Pirates of the Caribbean (2 & 3) and Sin City.
At RSP he will work closely with Rising Sun Pictures CEO Michael Taylor on forecasting, strategic planning and business development. He will also head the company’s worldwide sales effort and oversee studio relations.
“Marc is a visionary executive who has brought success to every company he has been associated with,” said Taylor.
"He has been a strong and trusted partner to virtually every studio in Hollywood, and has an impressive track record for leading large teams of artists on complex and creatively demanding projects. We are very pleased to welcome him to the leadership team at RSP.”
RSP, which is currently working on the second Green Lantern film and Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, Part 2, has also been a key visual effects contributor to recent films as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Terminator: Salvation.
The company is ready to take the VFX lead on such tent-pole projects, according to Sadeghi.
In addition “they have the physical resources to move into original productions, and, more importantly, they have the storytelling skills,” he added.
