Tom Calderone, who has been executive vp and GM of VH1 since 2005, has been upped to president of the channel, where he also manages VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul, VH1.com and other brand extensions.

Under Calderone's leadership, VH1 said, the network has seen 23 consecutive quarters of growth among total viewers, with first-quarter 2008 marking VH1's highest-rated ever among the key adults 18-49 demo.

Calderone also will continue to shepherd Palladia, MTV Networks' high-definition music network. He also serves as chairman of the VH1 Save the Music Foundation and directs VH1 Classic's Rock Autism initiative.

Calderone is based in New York and reports to MTV Networks Music and Logo Group president Van Toffler.

"Tom has an encyclopedic knowledge of music, great instincts in identifying the next cultural phenomenon for the VH1 audience (and) a sharp business sense," Toffler said.

Calderone began his career at MTV Networks in 1998. (partialdiff)
