Viacom's MTV is launching its first subscription-based OTT linear channel in Asia.
Viacom International Media Networks Asia said Wednesday that it has signed a deal with Hulu Japan, controlled by HJ Holdings, to launch a subscription-based OTT linear MTV channel, which will be called MTV Mix.
The agreement was unveiled at the APOS entertainment industry conference in Bali, Indonesia. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
The new Hulu Japan channel "will offer fans access to a curated 24/7 international music and entertainment experience anytime, anywhere," the two partners said in a statement. MTV Mix is the SVOD service's sole music channel offering.

"We look forward to providing MTV channel to Hulu users, and being the channel's first subscription-based OTT distributor," said Hiroyuki Oho, president of HJ Holdings.
