Viacom International Expands in Spain

A handful of deals give the group's brands placement on Spain's leading pay-TV platforms.

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Spain strengthened its presence thanks to a handful of nonexclusive agreements with Spain’s biggest pay-TV players, including Telefonica’s newest golden child Movistar TV and old stalwart Canal Plus.

The deal, set to go into effect during 2015, sees Movistar TV, CANAL+, Ono, Telecable and Euskaltel all add VIMN brands to their pay TV offer.

Movistar TV will include MTV and Nick Jr. brands in its portfolio. Telecable recently added MTV and Nickelodeon HD to its packages and the HD kids brand is also available now on Canal Plus, Ono, Euskaltel and soon on Orange and R.

“These partnerships with the most important pay TV platforms in Spain provide an ideal opportunity for VIMN to increase its audience in the region,” said Raffaele Annecchino, VIMN executive vice president & managing director South Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Our kids and family channels, Nickelodeon HD and Nick Jr., along with the MTV brand, create a perfect balance and provide programming that appeals to audiences ranging from preschoolers to teens and adults.”
