Viacom International Media Networks Names Jose Tolosa COO
Reporting to VIMN president and CEO Bob Bakish, he will relocate from Miami to New York as part of the promotion.
Viacom's Viacom International Media Networks unit said Monday that it has promoted executive vp Jose Tolosa to the role of COO.
The appointment is effective immediately. Tolosa reports to VIMN president and CEO Bob Bakish and will relocate from Miami to New York. He replaces Pierluigi Gazzolo who was appointed to lead VIMN’s business in Latin America in November.
"Tolosa will be focused on accelerating the company’s international growth strategy, including extending its pay TV footprint in key growth markets and increasing opportunities for consumers to access its content via multiple screens and devices," the company said.
Said Bakish: "Jose is one of the most strategic and forward-thinking executives I’ve worked with and is well-suited to assume the role of COO at this point in VIMN’s evolution. Jose and the rest of our management team will focus on growing our presence in our most valuable global markets and ensuring we’re best positioned to take advantage of increased consumer demand for our content across all platforms."
Tolosa first worked as senior vp, strategy and business development at VIMN starting in 2009. He has most recently served as executive vp, strategy, business development and operations since 2013. In these roles, he has worked with VIMN’s management around the world to implement business plans, identify new growth opportunities, oversee key M&A deals and look for operational improvement opportunities.
He has also held a number of pan-regional roles and responsibilities, including a period leading strategy and business development in Latin America and a three-month stint leading the company's business in Japan.
