Viacom ups James Barge to CFO
Gill-Charest made senior vp and controllerNEW YORK -- Viacom said Thursday it has promoted James Barge to the post of chief financial officer, effective Friday.
So far, COO Thomas Dooley, had also handled the CFO duties since Jan 2007.
Barge, 55, who previously served as executive vp, controller, tax and treasury, will continue to report to Dooley and be responsible for the entertainment company's financial reporting and planning, accounting, tax and treasury functions, as well as information technology activities.
Prior to joining Viacom in Jan. 2008, Barge served as senior vp and controller for Time Warner. "Jimmy brings an abundance of media industry insight, financial acumen and strong leadership to Viacom's financial operations," said Dooley.
Dooley also announced the appointment of Katherine Gill-Charest to the post of senior vp and controller. Gill-Charest, 46, has been vp and deputy controller since June 2007. She will report to Barge.
