Vice, Mandalay Sports Media Partner on New Docuseries
Produced by Mike Tollin, the weekly series will tell under-reported sports stories.
Vice Sports has premiered a new docuseries in partnership with Mike Tollin and Mandalay Sports Media.
The weekly show will explore untold sports stories. To wit, the first episode, called "Ball Hawk," looks at Zack Hample, the MLB collector who caught the ball from Alex Rodriguez's 3000th hit earlier this year. Hample refused to return the ball to the Yankee, causing controversy.
Each week, the series will alternate between a short 8-to-12-minute film or a shorter "Ride Along" segment that brings the viewer inside the car of an athlete or sports figure on their way to or from an event. Upcoming episodes include "Miro Dreams of Footy," which looks at an ex-FIFA agent's efforts to bring American football players to Australia, and "Street Bowl," which follows the top teams in New York's street football league as they compete for the first NYC Street Bowl.
Future "Ride Alongs" will feature the Baltimore Ravens' Steve Smith, the Los Angeles Lakers' D'Angelo Russell and the Minnesota Timberwolves' Karl Anthony-Towns.
Tollin, producer of Coach Carter, Varsity Blues and a number of other projects, is producing alongside Mason Gordon and Catlin Callaway.
