Wood is a central theme across the interiors and exteriors of the Santa Monica Canyon abode.

Vice Media CEO Shane Smith signed the dotted line on a $3.82 million, 2,615-square-foot home in Santa Monica Canyon.

Nestled on 0.6 acres of a tree-dotted hillside in the Pacific Palisades, the 1953 house was modernized by W3 architects, who updated the systems and utilities in an effort to reduce its energy use.

Wood is central to the aesthetics of the five bedroom, four bathroom abode, including exposed beam ceilings, wall paneling, the kitchen's design and flooring.

The rustic ranch-style property includes a "tree top" master suite that includes windows that frame views of the Canyon tree canopy.

Outdoors, a large paved patio, which includes a covered seating area, is flanked by a quaint grassy knoll and a rectangular pool.

Smith earned the No. 4 spot on THR's Silicon Beach 25: L.A.'s Most Powerful Digital Players list, which ranks tech innovators who deal and wield influence predominantly in Hollywood.
