'Vicky the Viking' sequel to be in 3D
The first German-language title to use the technologyCOLOGNE, Germany -- Constantin Film and Christian Becker's Rat Pack shingle are re-teaming for the sequel to "Vicky the Viking," the most successful German film of 2009.
"Vicky 2" will be shot in 3-D, the first German-language title to use the technology.
"Vicky," written and directed by German comedy star Michael "Bully" Herbig, sold some 5 million tickets in Germany last year for around $43 million boxoffice. It is unclear whether Herbig will be involved in "Vicky 2."
"Christian Ditter is on board to direct. A comedy and kids film veteran, Ditter directed the Rat Pack/Constantin coming of age comedy "Suburban Crocodiles" and its sequel, which bows in Germany next week.
Rat Pack plans to shoot the "Vicky" sequel on location in Germany, England, Denmark and Malta. The German theatrical release is set for Nov. 11, 2011.
