Brad Pitt Launches New 'Make It Right' Campaign With Groupon (Video)
Brad Pitt is extending an invitation that will be difficult for any fan to refuse.
The World War Z star has launched a new campaign with his foundation Make It Right -- which builds environmentally-friendly homes for people in need -- and Groupon Grassroots offering the chance to win a trip to New Orleans to hang out with Pitt and watch a special show by Kings of Leon and Bruno Mars.
"Brad Pitt here to tell you about Make It Right's big event in New Orleans and we want you there," says Pitt in a YouTube video released on Friday.
"Please join me and host Chris Rock, Jim Gaffigan, Kings of Leon, and Bruno Mars for what promises to be a great night," he says in the amateur style clip while talking into a hand-held camera.
The gala will take place on May 17 and the winner and a guest will get round-trip first class airfare from anywhere in the U.S. to New Orleans, a two-night stay at the W hotel, VIP tickets to the gala and after-party, and the chance to meet Brad.
"Worst case scenario -- you help build homes for people for in need... Best case scenario -- you help build homes for people for in need and you win a trip to New Orleans and hang with us," Pitt argued.
Those who can afford not to hedge their bets can purchase the same package through Groupon's Epic Deals for $25,000. Groupon will donate $22,500 from the purchase of each Epic Deal sold from April 16-29.
Pitt launched the Make It Right Foundation in 2007 as a response to Hurricane Katrina, and through it began building environmentally friendly homes at a competitive price. He organized 21 architectural firms to construct 150 single-family houses and duplexes in New Orleans and gave millions in donations.
In 2012, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he marvels at the result, having seen poor families living healthy lives with manageable bills. "It's remarkable," he told THR, "and now we want to take what we've learned and expand to other parts of the U.S. and abroad."
