Making her debut at this year's Met Gala, Brie Larson wasn't afraid to take a red-carpet risk in a fully embellished Prada pantsuit.
Her stylist, Jeff K. Kim, who worked with the Short Term 12 actress to define her bold look, explained that they wanted the look "to have depth."
"Brie is really interested in art and the meaning of certain colors, especially as they relate to art – so we did our research along with the Prada team on the meanings of the colors that were utilized in her final look," Kim tells Pret-a-Reporter. "We wanted our interpretation of theme to be strong -- a New Age modern woman. Something that represented armor, almost in a Joan of Arc kind of way." He added: "Her look was actually made out of fabric that had woven metal!"
To round out her fierce image, the actress wore a Gaydamak yellow gold and diamond hand bracelet "because we thought it would look like pieces that accompanied her armor-like look," explains Kim, who also styled the 24-year-old during this year's awards season. The final touches? Prada black pumps and clutch.
Kim adds: "We put forth our interpretation and definition of a modern woman, mixed with the classic elegance and structure of Charles James, to ultimately end up with a phenomenally chic and New Age look."
Kim shares an exclusive video -- compiled using Flipagram, the app that turns smartphone-snapped photos into a 15-second slideshow with music -- of Larson's first Met Gala experience with Pret-a-Reporter. Watch it below.
