'Expendables 3' Trailer: Explosions, High-Speed Chases and a Villainous Mel Gibson (Video)
The third film in the action franchise hits theaters Aug. 15.
The Expendables are back "for one last ride" — or so says the first official trailer for the third film in the hit action franchise, released Tuesday morning.
The action-packed trailer features multiple explosions, a high-speed train chase, skydiving, a couple guys rappelling down the side of a building, a high-speed car chase — and franchise newcomer Mel Gibson as a villain. There are also car crashes, motorcycle stunts and several sequences involving a helicopter.
The plot finds the team coming face to face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded the Expendables with Barney (Sylvester Stallone). Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone Barney was forced to kill — or so he thought. Stonebanks is now making it his mission to end the Expendables, but Barney brings in a new generation of team members who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy to take him down.
The star-studded cast also includes returning actors Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Jet Li and newcomers Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Kelsey Grammer, Kellan Lutz and Victor Ortiz, among others.
The movie hits theater Aug. 15 via Lionsgate.
