Shailene Woodley: Could 'Divergent' Character Beat Up 'Hunger Games' Heroine? (Video)
Could Tris take on Katniss?
With Shailene Woodley poised to launch a potential blockbuster YA franchise with Divergent, it's natural to ask how her character would stack up against the genre's reigning queen, The Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen.
The Divergent star tackled the question during her cover shoot for the March 14 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
"If my character and Katniss from The Hunger Games battled it out? I don't know. I don't feel like they would actually battle," she says. "I feel like it'd be like, 'You're a strong lady? I'm a strong lady, too. Let's combine forces and bring it together.' "
Hunger Games studio Lionsgate opens Divergent March 21.
Woodley's cover story reveals that Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Katniss in the Hunger Games films, was instrumental in recruiting the actress for Divergent.
" 'You must do it. You will not regret it for a second. Yes, there are some hard things, but there are so many beautiful things that will come from an opportunity like this,' " Woodley recalls Lawrence telling her in a series of emails written at the behest of Erik Feig, Lionsgate motion picture group co-president.
