Nearly a month after the Yves Saint Laurent poster surfaced online, the Jalil Lespert-directed biopic's trailer has arrived.
In the one-minute clip, a young Yves Saint Laurent (played by Pierre Niney) is seen showing off his unique craft and establishing himself as a talented designer whose fame eventually takes a toll on his well-being, resulting in erratic behavior. Guillaume Gallienne and Laura Smet also star as Saint Laurent's partner, Pierre Berge, and muse, Loulou de la Falaise, respectively.
In The Hollywood Reporter's review of the film, critic Boyd van Hoeij says Lespert chronicles "the life of one of the biggest style icons of the 20th century" with a film that is captured through "a character study in which both the direction and the film’s look are delicate and elegant." Based on what we've seen in the trailer, we'd have to agree.
Yves Saint Laurent opens in U.S theaters June 25. And we can hardly wait.
