'The View' creators plan unisex spinoff
Bryant Gumbel, E.D. Hill eyed for L.A.-based afternoon showBarbara Walters and Bill Geddie, who created ABC hit talk show "The View," are developing a "unisex" spinoff of the show that would add a male perspective.
Walters and Geddie envision it being produced in L.A. instead of New York, where "The View" is based, the Daily News reported Wednesday. It would be for an afternoon time slot, which Oprah Winfrey's talk show is expected to leave next year.
Similar to their evergreen ABC show, the spinoff would feature five co-hosts discussing a range of topical subjects. On the duo's wish list of hosts, according to the paper, are former "Today" show host Bryant Gumbel,
Filipino-American comedian Alec Mapa ("Ugly Betty"), former BET news anchor Jacque Reid and former Fox News host E.D. Hill.
An ABC spokesman had no comment when asked about the potential spinoff.
