Rosie Perez Makes Triumphant Return to 'The View' (Video)
The co-host, who hadn't been on ABC's daytime show in a month while she rehearsed for Larry David's Broadway play, returned to a shower of confetti and praise.
The View co-host Rosie Perez made her long-awaited return to the ABC daytime show on Tuesday.
Perez hadn't been on since the end of 2014, taking time off to rehearse for her role in Larry David's Broadway play Fish in the Dark, which began previews Monday night and opens March 5.
While she was away, rumors and reports had circulated that she wouldn't return to The View. But ABC maintained she'd be back, as scheduled, on Feb. 3.
And sure enough, Perez confidently walked onto The View stage on Tuesday, where she was greeted by a storm of confetti and applause, including a standing ovation. She seemed touched by all of the support.
Whoopi Goldberg then sang her name in excitement, asking her how things had been going with Fish in the Dark previews.
Perez gushed about the show and the standing ovation it received during its first preview Monday night.
When asked how she was doing, Perez said, "Girl, I am feeling fabulous. I am very, very, very happy to be back, and may I just say, 'Mi gente, gracias.' "
Co-host Nicolle Wallace added: "That is your seat, sister. Glad you're here."
Tuesday's show featured The View's entire lineup of regular panelists this season: Goldberg, Wallace, Perez and Rosie O'Donnell, without any of the guest hosts that have so often filled in for an absent panelist or added to the group. "We are back as we were originally. This is The View," Goldberg said.
Perez later weighed in on Tuesday's hot topics, including Pitbull, Bobbi Kristina, Bill Belichick and Fifty Shades of Grey.
