Roadshow would put up 25 percent of the budget for four films including the Denzel Washington starrer "The Equalizer."

Village Roadshow is nearing a deal with Sony Pictures to co-finance four upcoming movies, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Roadshow, which has been a longtime co-financing partner of Warner Bros., would put up 25 percent of the budget of the Denzel Washington starrer The Equalizer, the hip-hop musical Annie, the Sacha Baron Cohen starrer Grimsby and the big-screen adaptation of the best-selling novel series Goosebumps.

The move comes on the heels of THR's report that Roadshow is being cut out of Warner Bros.' Lego Movie sequel. However, sources say the Warners-Roadshow relationship is solid and will continue through 2017. In fact, Warners and Roadshow are teamed on a number of upcoming movies including the Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending, Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper and the Tom Cruise starrer Edge of Tomorrow.

Sony has been eager to find additional financial partners after securing a $200 million slate deal with LStar Capital. That deal is far smaller than a previous slate deal with Ryan Kavanaugh's Relativity Media.
