'The Voice' Alum Tony Lucca Debuts Spirited New Rock Song, "Imagination" (Exclusive)
Inspired by the singer-songwriter's first date with his wife
Tony Lucca is months away from releasing brand-new music.
The 38-year-old singer-songwriter (and The Mickey Mouse Club alum!), who appeared on Parenthood and was a finalist on season two of The Voice as part of Adam Levine's team, is returning with his eighth self-titled studio album, which will be released in January.
The Hollywood Reporter exclusively premieres a new track, "Imagination," which displays Lucca's pop songwriting sensibilities with classic rock instrumentation. The three-minute song is inspired by Lucca's first date with wife Rachel, whom he married in 2007, and builds on a catchy groove that highlights his vocals.
"After writing a bunch of songs for the project with Jordan Lawhead and Adam Smith, I began to share more and more of my personal narrative with them," Lucca tells THR. "'Imagination' was our inspired interpretation of my first date with my wife. Jason Reeves actually sat in on the session and helped us raise the bar even further.”
Lucca's new album, which includes "Imagination" and "Delilah," will feature heavy guitars and acoustic drums and is said to be in the vein of early Kings of Leon or Maroon 5. "Imagination" goes on sale via iTunes on Tuesday.
