Angela Bowers will work with Vox's on-camera talent across all of its brands, including SB Nation, The Verge and Eater.

Angela Bowers, a casting veteran who previously led talent at Tribeca Shortlist and oversaw booking at VH1, is joining Vox Media to help boost its roster of on-camera talent.

As Vox's first director of talent, Bowers will grow, develop and manage talent across Vox's media properties, including SB Nation, Eater, The Verge and Recode. She also will oversee the search for new talent and talent relations for digital programming and live events. Bowers will be based in New York and will report to Vox's head of video, Gavin Purcell.

"Talent is a massively important part of any video endeavor and, as we grow and scale Vox media's video programming, we're excited to work with and develop on-camera talent of all types," said Purcell, who joined the company in October from NBC's The Tonight Show. "Angela has a great history of working with and discovering incredible on-camera talent and we can't wait for her to join our team."

Prior to joining Vox, Bowers worked as head of talent at Tribeca Shortlist, the streaming video service that Lionsgate and Tribeca launched in 2015. She also previously spent 10 years overseeing casting and booking for VH1, working on such shows as Best Week Ever and I Love the 2000s

Vox, which has been building up a portfolio of digital media brands across lifestyle, business, politics and sports, committed to growing its video capabilities with Purcell's hiring. The company has 2.5 billion views across platforms such as Facebook and YouTube for shows including Vox's Observatory, SB Nation's MMA Hour and Eater's Dining on a Dime
