Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer Wrap Shooting on ‘Cloud Atlas’
The big-budget adaptation of David Mitchell’s novel stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving and Susan Sarandon.
BERLIN – The Matrix directors Andy and Lana Wachowski and Run, Lola Run helmer Tom Tykwer wrapped principle photography at Studio Babelsberg in Berlin this week on their ambitious sci-fi epic Cloud Atlas.
The adaptation of David Mitchell’s award-winning novel features an ensemble cast including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving and Ben Whishaw.
Cloud Atlas’ producers are Grant Hill of Anarchos Productions and Stefan Arndt of X Filme. A Company and Degeto Film are co-producers.
Warner Bros. has North American rights to the film, which is set to bow at the end of 2012. X Filme’s distribution arm X Verleih will release Cloud Atlas in German-speaking Europe, A Company has rights in Russia and Eastern Europe, Chinese rights are with Dragon Pictures, Media Asia Group is handling Hong Kong and Ascension Pictures holds rights for Singapore and Malaysia. Focus Features is handling the rest of the world outside of Asia.
