The band was also a first-time AMA nominee, nominated in the categories of new artist of the year; favorite artist — alternative rock; and favorite duo or group — pop/rock.

Walk the Moon brought its talents to the 2015 AMAs stage on Sunday night with a happy-go-lucky performance of "Shut Up and Dance."

The first-time AMA nominees (they were nominated in the categories of new artist of the year; favorite artist — alternative rock; and favorite duo or group — pop/rock) didn’t look like rookies while rocking out to their breakout hit, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The stage even was lit up with pop art and pyrotechnics.

The Ohio-based group admitted to having a case of preshow jitters to E! on the red carpet. "A lot of the artists that will be in the audience are our idols," said the bandmembers. If you scanned the room during their performance, though, the likes of Scooter Braun and Ariana Grande could be seen busting a move in their seats.
