Wallenstein heads digital media at THR

Andrew Wallenstein has been named to the newly created position of editor — digital media at The Hollywood Reporter, effective immediately.

Wallenstein will drive all aspects of content creation and production and oversee THR's digital editorial strategy on all of its platforms, including the award-winning THR.com. He will be tasked with developing methods for how to leverage Nielsen data, information and analysis to serve THR's growing audience and creating new editorial products on all platforms.

Wallenstein will report to Eric Mika, publisher of The Hollywood Reporter and vp entertainment for Nielsen Business Media. Wallenstein will remain based in Los Angeles.

Most recently, Wallenstein was deputy editor at The Reporter, where he oversaw coverage of digital media and technology and other editorial features for the publication. He also writes the Digital Reporter column for THR and contributes to Reel Pop, THR's blog devoted to online video.

Wallenstein also serves as a critic for NPR's nationally syndicated radio program "Day to Day" and was co-host of the TV Guide Channel series "Square Off." He joined THR in 2002 in the publication's New York bureau.

During the past 12 months, THR has introduced a string of digital products and initiatives that have broadened its reach and impact domestically and internationally, including the THReviews portal and THR Mobile Boxoffice, which have allowed the brand to better serve its audience while providing innovative solutions for clients.

The brand also recently forged a strategic alliance with Yahoo Entertainment, launched a global digital edition and introduced THR Direct, which delivers exclusive and customized stories, news alerts and video directly to desktops. (partialdiff)
