Walsh takes sales post at Independent
EmptyLONDON -- U.K.-based sales and production label Independent, founded by Luc Roeg, has hired Abigail Walsh to head its sales operation. She replaces outgoing sales chief Ana Ayesta, who is leaving to pursue personal interests, Independent said Thursday.
Walsh, most recently director of sales at Goldcrest Films, will work alongside Independent's sales arm managing director Andrew Orr and head of marketing Sarah Goodwin.
The company -- whose slate includes David Mackenzie's Berlin Silver Bear winner "Hallam Foe," Marc Munden's "The Mark of Cain" and Paul Andrew Williams' "London yo Brighton" -- is looking to expand its original production exposure in the run-up to this year's market at the Festival de Cannes.
"Abigail brings a great combination of experience and enthusiasm to the job, and we are all delighted she has chosen to join us at Independent," Roeg said.
