'WarGames' Remake Writer in Talks to Tackle DreamWorks Thriller 'Made in Sweden' (Exclusive)
Mark Sourian is producing the crime drama adaptation of the Swedish book
Arash Amel, who wrote the Nicole Kidman-starring drama Grace of Monaco, is in negotiations to write Made in Sweden, DreamWorks’ adaptation of a novel written by Anders Roslund and Stefan Thunberg.
Former DreamWorks executive-turned-producer Mark Sourian is producing the crime drama.
The book is based on a true story of a series of brazen bank robberies that were pulled off by three brothers and their childhood best friend — a group of irreverent, brash, mischievous 20-somethings known as "The Military Gang” — who came from a troubled background.
Roslund is the New York Times best-selling co-author of 3 Seconds and Thunberg is one of Sweden's most successful screenwriters, whose work includes Hamilton and Jagarna 2.
DreamWorks optioned the rights in May, the same month’s Amel’s Grace of Monaco debuted in Cannes.
The screenwriter has Seducing Ingrid Bergman, about the love affair between the actress and war photographer Robert Capa, in development at YRF Entertainment and recently worked on MGM’s remake of WarGames.
He is repped by CAA, Grandview Entertainment and Myman Greenspan.
