Warner Bros. TV Inks 110-Movie Output Deal With UTV
Titles include “The Lord of the Rings” which will air on UTV Action channel's Hindi and regional feeds.
MUMBAI – UTV Broadcasting – owned by leading broadcasting group UTV Software – has inked a 110-movie deal with Warner Brothers International Television Distribution.
Under the two-year agreement, titles such as The Lord of the Rings, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire and The Golden Compass, among others, will air on the Hindi and Telugu language feeds of the UTV Action movie channel. The movies will only air on UTV Action after their first telecast on the WB and HBO channels.
While financial terms were not given, UTV Action programming head Manasi Sapre said, “Warner Bros has some of the best action films in its library, and this association will create for Indian viewers, fast access to this content.” The Walt Disney Co. recently acquired a majority stake in UTV Software.
