Warner Bros. Wins Bidding War for Untitled Will Ferrell Project
Co-stars Zach Galifianakis, Jay Roach will also co-produce with Ferrell on political comedy to coincide with 2012 presidential elections.
Warner Bros. has won the bidding war for the untitled political comedy package featuring Jay Roach, Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. The story focuses on rival candidates and the studio is hoping to time it to the 2012 presidential elections.
CAA shopped the project last week, generating heavy interest from several studios; Warners, where the script was championed by Jesse Ehrman, emerged top spot late Saturday.
Chris Henchy, a longtime Ferrell associate whose most recent credit is Ferrell's The Other Guys, and Shawn Harwell, a writer on HBO comedy Eastbound & Down, wrote the script.
The package comes with a carload of producers: Ferrell is producing with his Gary Sanchez Productions partner Adam McKay, Roach (via his Everyman Pictures shingle) and Galifianakis.
