Warner Music Group Names Brian Roberts to CFO Post

NEW YORK - Warner Music Group Corp. said Thursday that Brian Roberts will become executive vp and CFO by Jan. 1.

Reporting to CEO Stephen Cooper, he will succeed Steven Macri who held the role since 2008, but has decided to leave WMG. Roberts currently serves as senior vp and CFO of Warner/Chappell Music, the company's music publishing arm. He has held that role since 2007.

Said WMG chairman Edgar Bronfman, Jr.: “Brian’s financial acumen and deep understanding of the music industry and the company make him the ideal candidate to fill this vital role.”

Meanwhile, WMG recorded music chairman and CEO Lyor Cohen has flattened the company's management structure, Billboard.biz reported.

The company has eliminated its European management layer, with Warner Music Europe and international marketing CEO John Reid and three other executives departing, it said.

Kevin Gore will handle worldwide catalog management and synchronization, while David Marcus will be in charge of 360-degree deals globally, according to Billboard.biz.

Cohen will directly oversee North America, France, Germany and the U.K. Inigo Zabala, who oversees  Latin America, will pick up additional responsibilities.
