Warner unveils Bollywood kung fu trailer

'Chandi Chowk to China' set to open in January

BANGKOK -- In Hindi and Mandarin with English subtitles, Bollywood dancing and kung fu stunts, the trailer for the first feature produced by Warner Bros. Pictures India -- and the first Indian film to shoot extensively in China -- launched exclusively online on Saturday.

The promotional video for "Chandni Chowk to China," co-produced by Mumbai-based Ramesh Sippy Entertainment and People Tree Prods., gives a taste of "the first Bollywood kung fu movie" and the first Bollywood film whose trailer features on the popular Apple movie trailers Web site.

Directed by Nikhil Advani, the film follows comedian Akshay Kumar as Sidhu, a lowly Mumbai cook from the Chandni Chowk market of New Delhi who is mistaken for a martial arts hero, on  madcap (and musical) adventures to Shanghai and the Great Wall.

Earlier titled "Made in China" and slated to release worldwide this year, the retitled film now is slated to release in January 2009.
