Warner Bros. is looking for revenge, snapping up spec script "The Gunslinger" by John Hlavin. Andrew Lazar is producing via his Mad Chance banner.

"Gunslinger" follows an ex-Texas Ranger who will stop at nothing to find and punish the men who killed his brother and rescue his nephew. The project is described as being in the vein of "Man on Fire" and "Taken."

Matt Reilly and Elisha Holmes are overseeing for the studio.

Studio-based Lazar is in production on "Jonah Hex," starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox, and in postproduction on "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore."

"Gunslinger" is the first feature spec sale for Hlavin, who got his break as an assistant to showrunner Nick Thiel on NBC's "LAX."

Hlavin is repped by UTA and Benderspink. (partialdiff)
