Warners taps int'l film acquisitions chief
Camela Galano is a 20-year veteran of New Line CinemaWith an eye toward bolstering its presence in the overseas market, Warners has named Camela Galano to the newly created post of president of Warner Bros. International Film Acquisitions.
Based in Burbank and reporting to executive vp international Richard Fox, Galano will be responsible for acquiring the rights across all media to non-Warner Bros.-produced English-language films that can be exploited abroad.
Galano spent more than 20 years at New Line Cinema, which Warners absorbed in 2008. At New Line, where she most recently served as president of New Line International Releasing, Galano oversaw and managed the release of New Line films in more than 120 international territories for WBPI.
“Cam is a smart, savvy and thoughtful business executive,” Fox said. “Her international film experience, contacts and reputation are unparalleled. Through Cam’s efforts, we will acquire films for selected international territories that will complement our own slates of studio and locally produced films in those countries.”
