Tonys: Oprah Welcomes 'The Color Purple' Stars to Perform

James Corden hosted the 70th annual Broadway-lauding awards show, which aired on CBS from New York City’s Beacon Theatre.

The Color Purple stars were welcomed to the stage by Oprah Winfrey to perform songs from the hit Broadway musical at the Tony Awards on Sunday evening.

Danielle Brooks, nominated for best actress in a featured role in musical, and Cynthia Erivo, nominated for best actress in a leading role in a musical, performed alongside the cast. Erivo then performed the showstopper single "I'm Here."

Winfrey starred in the film rendition of the musical in 1985 as character Sofia Johnson.

The musical opened Dec. 10 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre and is nominated for four awards, including best revival of a musical.
