Watch Tesla Passengers Freak Out in "Insane Mode" (Video)
Zero to 60 in 3.2 wild seconds in Tesla’s dual-motor Model S.
When Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk unveiled a 691 horsepower all-wheel-drive variant of Tesla's Model S at the company’s SpaceX headquarters at the Hawthorne, Calif. airport last October, he boasted, “This car is nuts — it’s like having your own personal roller coaster."
Musk added that the most aggressive of the car’s driving modes would be accessed by a button “that will actually say, ‘Insane.' "
Turns out he wasn’t exaggerating that much.
The website DragTimes has cut together a video compilation of the reactions of unsuspecting Model S passengers when the car launches into "Insane mode" — their expressions of shock and awe speak for themselves.
YouTube is now littered with viral videos of the dual-motor Model S smoking Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other supercars costing twice as much as the $121,000 Tesla.
Tesla famously does not spend a nickel on advertising — videos like these offer casual evidence why not.
