WDR inks deal with BBC Worldwide

'Mistresses,' 'Sense and Sensibility' included

COLOGNE, Germany -- German public broadcaster WDR has signed its biggest-ever licensing deal with BBC Worldwide, acquiring a wagonload of series and specials from the Brit pubcaster's commercial arm.

The deals, signed at the BBC Showcase event in Brighton, which wrapped Wednesday, include German rights for the miniseries "Mistresses" and "Sense and Sensibility," several comedy series including the new season of the "Omid Djalili Show" and library titles including all episodes of Yorkshire vet series "All Creatures Great and Small" and the cult sketch comedy "French & Saunders."

BBC titles sold well across the board in Germany, with ZDF picking up rights for all six seasons of "The Inspector Lynley Mysteries" and commercial network RTL 2 taking Seasons 1 and 2 of alien investigation show "Torchwood."
