The actor, now prison inmate No. 43355-018, had been convicted of failure to pay taxes.
Wesley Snipes surrendered to a federal prison in Pennsylvania Thursday morning to begin a three-year sentence for failing to file his taxes.
The Blade actor was assigned Bureau of Prisons inmate No. 43355-018 at the McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Lewis Run, Pa., according to ABC news. He will be transferred eventually to an adjacent minimum security prison camp.
Snipes turned in his street clothes for a prison uniform, went through inmate orientation and was assigned a bunk.
The actor was convicted in April 2008 of three misdemeanors of willful failure to file income taxes. He has spent the last two years appealing the ruling.
When asked during an interview with CNN's Larry King if he was nervous about going to prison, Snipes said, "I think any man would be nervous."
