Whistler festival sets William Vince tribute

Produced 35 movies during his career, including 'Capote'

TORONTO -- Next month's Whistler Film Festival will present a lifetime tribute in December to the late William Vince, whose Vancouver-based Infinity Pictures produced the Oscar-winning drama "Capote."

Taking part in the Dec. 5 tribute and fundraiser for the William Vince Scholarship Fund for emerging filmmakers will be screenwriter Roger Avary ("Pulp Fiction"), director Roger Kumble ("Cruel Intentions"), actor-producer Barry Pepper and director Charles Martin Smith.

Vince, who produced 35 movies during his career, died last June at 44, after a long battle with cancer.

The Whistler Film Festival is set to run Dec. 4-7 in the British Columbia ski resort.
