Despite her heartache, Price walked the carpet at Sunday’s Grammy Awards telling reporters that she hoped to set the record straight on her late friend.
“I’m talking because I want people to know the truth about how things were at her last performance,” Price told The Hollywood Reporter and sister publication Billboard. “That night was about what you saw onstage. When she left the club, she left tired and drained because we had all danced ourselves into an absolute frenzy. It’s hard for me to hear anything other than that, because she stood no more than three feet away from me the entire time and we had a ball."

Houston died suddenly Saturday, just hours before she was expected to attend Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy gala at the Beverly Hilton. The shocking death prompted an immediate outpouring of remembrances and emotional tributes, including one from Jennifer Hudson during the "in memoriam" section of the Grammy ceremony. Houston was 48.
Video of the iconic singer’s impromptu final performance, in which she proclaims “Jesus loves me," quickly surfaced on the web. In the brief clip, Price says directly to Houston: “You are a class act. You are an icon.”
