WHV downloads to own in Benelux
EmptyAMSTERDAM, The Netherlands -- Warner Home Video Benelux announced Friday that it is launching a download-to-own-project with @Home, the biggest Internet provider in the Netherlands.
The deal will give consumers the ability to download such recent titles as "Superman Returns," "Poseidon" and the Dutch TV series "Waltz" on the same day as their retail release in shops. The catalog also will contain some hundred titles of previously released productions.
One of the reasons for the move is to combat piracy. By offering good quality and decently priced downloads the company hopes to make legal downloading more attractive.
Said Warner Home Video Benelux director Ruud Lamers: "We consider @Home as a reliable and stable provider that also battles against piracy."
