Will Ferrell Faces Off With Saber-Toothed Cat in Museum Campaign

Will Ferrell finds himself face-to-face with a saber-toothed cat (or at least, a human in a furry costume) in a new #HowDoYouMuseum campaign spot for the Natural History Family of Museums.

The #HowDoYouMuseum campaign, which launched today, features personalities from the creative and scientific worlds. Among those on the roster are artists Gary Baseman and Mark Bradford and science communicator Cara Santa Maria, all of whom share anecdotes and personal perspectives on the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum and Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. The clips are part of an ongoing initiative to encourage visitors and the public to share their experiences and show what it means to “museum.” 

More #HowDoYouMuseum videos will be released each month this year featuring notable locals including Rodarte fashion designers Laura and Kate Mulleavy, artist Catherine Opie, author D.J. Waldie, landscape architect Mia Lehrer and KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez. A campaign is a creative collaboration between the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and Imaginary Forces creative agency along with social media and digital partner GURU Media Solutions.

“The Natural History Museum has undergone a radical transformation over the past 10 years— it is not the same place you may have visited in a school group years ago,” said Lori Bettison-Varga, president and director of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. “This New Way to Museum campaign reflects the freshness and innovation of our institution and uses our visitors and ambassadors to share their experiences at NHM and at the world-famous La Brea Tar Pits."
