WME's Ari Emanuel Joins MOCA Board and Helps Launch MOCAtv
Leading talent agent announces relationship with MOCA and helps develop art-dedicated video channel.
Ari Emanuel, agent and co-CEO of WME Entertainment, has joined the board of trustees of The Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Los Angeles.
“We are very excited to welcome Ari Emanuel to the MOCA Board,” board co-chair and tv producer/writer Maria Arena Bell said in a release. “His dynamic role in developing some of the strongest creative talent in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles and beyond will be a great asset to the museum and its future programming.” Emanuel joins a board that also includles such names as producer Darren Star, restaurateur Peter Morton and AEG president/CEO Tim Leiweke.
Emanuel also serves on the board of the American Film Institute, while he and his wife Sarah are on the leadership council of P.S. Arts, which brings arts education to public schools in Southern California.

Along with joining the Board, Emanuel has helped launch MOCAtv, a new YouTube channel for contemporary arts, which bowed on Monday, Oct. 1. The new video channel will integrate contemporary art with film, music, dance and comedy as well as other mediums and help to educate its audience as a part of YouTube Education, which comprises 700,000 videos on topics including science and history. MOCAtv is the only channel dedicated to art among YouTube original channels first announced last year.
“MOCAtv is a timely and vital digital extension of the museum,” MOCA director Jeffrey Deitch said. “The channel will attract the growing online audience of people on every continent who are interested in visual culture, and provide them with the opportunity to see, explore, and experience the art of today.”
According to MOCA, Emanuel has helped solidify a relationship between the museum and Google that was instrumental in the development of MOCAtv. Emanuel was not available for comment on his involvement with Google.
The programming will feature six different sectors which include Artist Video Projects, The Artist’s Studio, Art in The Streets, Art + Music, MOCA U and YouTube Curated by and will feature artist and music collaborations, documentaries, filmed interviews, user-generated videos of street art and more
On November 13, look for the premiere of a new Bjork music video directed by L.A. commercial and video director Andrew Thomas Huang.
With each new subscription to MOCAtv comes a complimentary three-month MOCA membership.
