WME Partner Rob Carlson Exits for UTA
The motion picture literary agent’s clients include Jon M. Chu, Michael Bay and Adam F. Goldberg.
WME partner Rob Carlson has joined UTA, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Carlson’s filmmaker clients at WME include Jon M. Chu, Michael Bay, Adam F. Goldberg, Richard Tanne (Southside With You), Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice), Mike Lesslie (Assassin’s Creed co-screenwriter), Clay Kaytis (The Angry Birds Movie), Mark Burton (Shaun the Sheep Movie), Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2), Paul Tibbitt (SpongeBob SquarePants) and television directors David Slade, Matt Shakman, Tom Harper and Colm McCarthy. Carlson also represented Hasbro, for whom he negotiated a cinematic universe deal with Paramount.
At UTA, Carlson will be an agent in the motion picture literary department. “Rob is a great agent whose reputation in the filmmaking world speaks for itself," department head and UTA managing director David Kramer said in a statement. "We’re thrilled to welcome Rob to our team, and we know he and his clients will thrive at UTA.”
Carlson entered the William Morris mailroom 25 years ago. He spent eight years working as an agent in television packaging before transitioning to the motion picture side.
