WME Signs Director Nicole Kassell (Exclusive)
In addition to episodes of ‘The Americans’ and ‘American Crime,’ she helmed the pilot for TNT’s ‘Claws.’
WME has signed director Nicole Kassell, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. She previously was with CAA.
Kassell is a sought-after television helmer whose résumé includes episodes of The Americans, Vinyl, American Crime, The Leftovers, Rectify, The Following, Better Call Saul and The Killing. She most recently directed the pilot for TNT’s upcoming dramedy Claws, which is being produced by Rashida Jones and stars Niecy Nash as the owner of a South Florida nail salon.
Kassell made her feature directing debut with The Woodsman, which premiered at Sundance in 2004 and earned her a best first feature nomination at the Independent Spirit Awards. She later helmed 2011’s A Little Bit of Heaven, starring Kate Hudson and Gael Garcia Bernal.
Kassell now is working on an adaptation of Barbara Kingsolver’s 2000 novel Prodigal Summer.
Kassell continues to be repped by manager Melissa Breaux at Washington Square Films and by attorney Victoria Cook at Frankfurt Kurnit.
