Wong Kar-wai to Get Lifetime Honor At India's Goa Festival
China is the focus country at this year's International Film Festival of India
Wong Kar-wai will be honored with a lifetime achievement award at the 45th International Film Festival of India in Goa. IFFI will run November 20-30 .
The Hong Kong director's latest film The Grandmaster will close the festival with Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s The President as opening film.
This year's festival sees China as the focus country following the recent signing of a co-production treaty with India. The first meeting of the Indo-China Joint Working Group will be held on the sidelines of the festival.
Indian film icon Amitabh Bachchan will be the chief guest of the opening ceremony which is expected to be attended by Chinese film actress Zhang Ziyi, Swedish filmmaker Jan Troell and Polish film maker Krzysztof Zanussi. South Indian superstar Rajnikanth will be honoured with the centenary award for Indian film personality of the year.
The annual Film Bazaar will also run alongside the festival, from Nov. 20-24, as a platform and workshop to incubate upcoming projects. Film Bazaar is organized by the government's National Film Development Corporation.
