Yahoo's Paul Feig Comedy to Reunite 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' Stars
Joel Hodgson and Trace Beaulieu have joined the cast of 'Other Space'
Paul Feig is reuniting the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 for his Yahoo comedy Other Space.
The half-hour sci-fi series has cast MST3K creator Joel Hodgson and Trace Beaulieu as part of a rag-tag crew of space explorers in the 22nd century, Yahoo announced Tuesday. The duo worked together for a number of years on the cult classic, which ran from 1988 to 1999, with Hodgson playing a human launched into space and forced to watch terrible movies and Beaulieu, a writer on the show, voicing the robot companion Crow as well as evil mad scientist Dr. Clayton Forrester.
In a video posted to Yahoo News (below), Beaulieu announced that he will play a robot named Art in the upcoming series. Rounding out the cast are Karan Soni (Safety Not Guaranteed), Eugene Cordero (House of Lies); Milana Vayntrub (Silicon Valley), Conor Leslie (Klondike), Neil Casey (Broad City) and Bess Rous (Murder in the First).
Production has begun on the series, which is slated for a spring 2015 release. Feig, who wrote the pilot, will executive produce all eight episodes with Owen Ellickson. Directing the episodes are Luke Matheny (God of Love), Lucia Aniello (Broad City), Rob Cohen (Big Bang Theory), the Nix brothers (Those Who Can't) and Matt Sohn (New Girl). Feig will direct the finale.
Other Space is part of Yahoo's growing roster of half-hour comedies, which include the sixth season of Community and Malin Ackerman-starring Sin City Saints.
