Yelmo Cines the First to Go 100% Digital in Spain
The 400-screen conversion cost $160,000 per screen and began last November.
MADRID - Spain's leading national exhibitor Yelmo Cines announced Monday that it has completed the digitalization of all 400 screens in its circuit.
"It's been a huge effort both economically and logistically," Yelmo director Fernando Evole told the Spanish financial daily Cinco Dias. "An effort in development to try to continue to offer our clients the best movie experience possible. We're all used to enjoying digital quality with televisions, telephones or iPads, which are systems that offer continuous quality without lines or vibrations, without normal deterioration with the passing of time."
The digitalization process, which makes Yelmo Spain's first fully digital exhibitor, cost €120,000 ($160,000) per screen and began last November. Of the 400 digitalized screens, 192 boast 3D capability.
