Yorns ink first-look deal at Fox
New company to produce pics in multiple genresThe production arm of Rick and Julie Yorn's new production-management company has signed a two-year first-look deal with 20th Century Fox.
The unnamed company, which will not be based on the lot, will produce features across multiple genres. Although no projects have yet been set up at the studio, the company already has an adaptation of the thriller novel "Beat the Reaper" at Regency, to be co-produced by Appian Way.
The company has hired longtime Silver Pictures exec Erik Olsen, who served as senior vp and oversaw pics such as the in-production Denzel Washington actioner "The Book of Eli" and the upcoming horror thriller "Orphan." Olsen will help build the company's new feature side.
The Yorns recently struck out on their own after many years of being principals, along with Jeff Kwatinetz, at the now-defunct management and production outfit the Firm. The Firm's production arm, run by Julie Yorn, had a deal with Fox as well, resulting in such films as "Max Payne" and the just-released comedy "Bride Wars." Julie Yorn is actively involved with those titles and will act as their producer.
